School of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Strives to Enhance the Innovation Ability of Undergraduates-2015 Undergraduates Published SCI Q1 Research Paper

SAE strives to enhance the innovation ability of undergraduates. By conducting characteristic courses, personalized training program and semester plan, SAE tries to cultivate students' innovative spirit, cutting-edge scientific research thinking methods, and enhance undergraduates' ability to engage in practice, scientific research activities and write research papers. Recently, Huang Zhiyu and Zhilong Xie from SAE, 2015 undergraduates, published a research paper entitled "Modeling and multi-objective optimization of a stand-alone PV-hydrogen-retired EV battery hybrid energy system" (Volume 181, 1 February 2019, Pages 80-92) in the journal of "Energy Conversion and Management” (SCI Q1, IF = 6.377).

The paper is mainly the research results of Student Research Training Program (SRTP) "Optimization Design of Hybrid Energy Storage Power Generation System Including Stand-alone Photovoltaic, Fuel Cell, & Recycled Power Cell". The paper is also supported by National Key R&D Plan and Central University Fund. This research uses photovoltaic power, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, & retired power cells to build renewable energy system off power grid, and carries out the research on system modeling and multi-objective optimization design of the system configuration, to realize the high efficiency and low-cost utilization of energy. The research is completed under the gui-dance of researcher Caizhi Zhang from SAE.

Zhiyu Huang and Zhilong Xie showed great interest in scientific research when they were sophomores, and since then they began to do research in the Vehicle Fuel Cell Laboratory (jointly built by the SAE, Chongqing Automotive Collaborative Innovation Center and the State Key Laboratory of Mechanical Transmission). Zhiyu Huang is applying to Nanyang Polytechnic University of Singapore to pursue PhD and Zhilong Xie has been admitted as a postgraduate by Tongji University. The research benefited greatly from the college's high attention to undergraduate scientific research, as well as the guidance of researchers at home and abroad including researchers from teaching reform project of both “Academic English Teaching Research and Practice" & "Improving Undergraduate Students' Innovation Ability By High-level Scientific Research" and professor Xiaosong Hu, and Prof. Siew Hwa Chan from Nanyang Technolo-gical University.
